Choosing Nano Reef Organisms

Uploaded By:   Jessica
    Video Description:

  • Our Tiny Turbo Snails eat nuisance algae and breed unassisted in marine aquariums. They therefore meet our criteria for inclusion in nano reef systems. When we select only organisms that can grow and breed by themselves in our aquariums we increase the resilience of these captive communities and improve our long-term chances of success. When marine organisms cannot or will not breed in a given captive system it is often an indication that the system is TOO SMALL for them, potentially lacking available space, food, habitat or some other requirement critical to reproductive success. As attractive or entertaining as these organisms may be, perhaps it would be wise not to include them in our tanks. When marine organisms do breed on their own in our nano reef tanks it is an excellent sign that we have met their basic biological requirements satisfactorily. In achieving this we help relieve harvesting pressure on wild populations of these organisms. Please use only captive-bred organisms in your reef aquarium.
